Sorry about the complete lack of a podcast this week, but our attempt to do an Otakon cast was bamboozled by Nase forgetting to bring along our trusty USB mic. We did make one using the built-in Macbook Mic, but it was so bad it didnt even pass our little to non-existant standards. I promise we'll have one up as soon as we get back to New Jersey, and clean ourselves of the sand that has made itself a permanent guest in all of our clothing.

Over the years I have noticed that my peers in school were in fact exceptionally talented in a multitude of areas, including vandalism. At first I thought maybe it was just because I went to one of the best private schools in New Jersey, but even when i went to public school I noticed the same trend (and the vandalism). The Class of 2006 just seemed to be a generally more intelligent group of people (even the vandalists), and I have noticed this to be true for many schools, at least in New Jersey. Then again saying you are more intelligent than all the grades that came before you if you go to a school like Shawnee or Morrestown High still isn't saying much (but saying you are better vandalists if you go to a school like Shawnee or Moorestown High will definitely get you some mad street cred). I thought this peculiarity very interesting and worth writing about between reruns of Rome on HBO OnDemand.

Some of you might be wondering if there is "something in the water", so to speak, while it is true in Southern New Jersey it is common for there to be fluoride in the water (as well as that drug the government puts in to keep the masses passive). I could not find any correlations between fluoride intake and an expansion of cognitive functions. Its effects on breath though are a godsend. So, I began to investigate a common link between my peers that may have something to do with our supposed superiority to the preceding classes, and apparently by teachers' woeful expressions for the future at our graduations, the succeeding classes as well.

It came to me while flipping surfing through YouTube and landing Old-School Nickelodeon Intros. We were the generation of Nick. Shows like The Busy World of Richard Scarry, Gullah Gullah Island, Doug, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and let's not forget Salute Your Shorts were mainstays of our childhood. Their groundbreaking writing and inventive stories opened our imaginations in ways children had never experienced before, enabling us to grow in unforeseen and magnificent ways. The out and out silliness of Pete and Pete instilled in us an attitude towards life that welcomed exploration of new ideas despite their absurdity. It in effect undid the mental blocks parents attempt to instill in their children and therefore made us wholly different from what had come before us, and ultimately since the end of that classic era of Nick, all that would come afterwards.

Now at this moment in time as the Class of 2006 heads off into the world I again wonder at what further affect we will have on it. Will such lessons as "Never bet on the Purple Parrots" help as us it has so far? Will we one day have a big orange couch in the Oval Office? "Will Doug ever hook up with Patti Mayonnaise? Only time will tell.

Just An Idea

As I was killing my umpteenth rat in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's tutorial I began to wonder what other sources game developers could use as subject matter for thier RPG's. There is only so many times I can save the world from some looming threat that severly outclasses me until, that is, I bash in the heads of thousands upon thousands of creatures/humanoids that only purpose in life seems to be attacking me for some sick evil purpose or to provide me with a lifetime supply of beaver pelts.

Personally, I want a more realistic RPG roughly based on my own life. Imagine the possibilities, work your way through the labyrinthine hallways of highschool only to have your path to class blocked by a gaggle of brainless blondes trading techniques on how to make thier goddamn flip flops smack against the bottom of their feet louder. They do this for +10 ATTENTION which they hope they can trade in for thier ample supply of +20 MY DADDY NEVER LOVED ME. Or what about this scenario? Imagine having to create a series of jokes that will both keep your teacher from regaining control of the class while at the same time raising the AFFECTION METER of the totally smoking chicks in your class. You could even expand the game to incorporate other aspects, like a sneaking level where the objective is to get to your room without having your mom call you to take out the trash.

It could work, trust me.

So this is our first official podcast, which also just so happens to coincide with my 18th birthday. We recorded this a week ago. It took us awhile to figure out how we were gonna host the files on the net. Especially after my idea of peddling them like crack in the school hallways fell through... Well anyway, this first episode is full of a general awkwardness, that we sincerely hope you'll love. We tell you who we are, talk about work, our rampant differences, and I laugh a lot (loudly).
